there is another thread here about clearing history for Internet Explorer, but i want to know how to do it with Firefox. didnt want to ask in that thread.
in the address bar, if i type in something like "sports" it will give websites with the word "sports" that ive been too, and not all of them are recent. some are weeks or even months. how do i delete/erase that history? so when i do put in something like "sports" into the address bar it doesnt give me anything as if there was no history.
i tried Tools>Clear Private Data, with everything checked.. and that did not do it.

    Hello SpecialFNK.
What you will need to do is start to write as you mentioned "Sports" and then move your arrow key down to select lets say, "Sports all day" and then you can press your "delete" key on your keyboard and it will delete. Beyond that I really do not know how to remove that, but I did believe if you Cleared Private Data, with everything checked, I thought that it removed those, but I must be wrong.

Let me know if that works.

EDIT: Dom got to it first :) But yeah. That is how you would do it more efficiently in Firefox :)

i feel like im lost :confused
on my Firefox page. under Tools>Options>Privacy and History i have 3 options..
-Keep my history for at least [ ] days. i used to have something like 10 i think, but have changed it to 0.
-Remember what i enter in forms and the search bar
    -Remember what i've downloaded.
i now have UNchecked all of them, but i previously had them all checked.

in Ccleaner. there are the 2 options of "Windows" and "Applications"
Firefox is the first one under "Applications" and i have these options..
    -Cookies
    -Download History
    -Internet Cache
    -Internet History
    -Saved Form Information.
all of them have been checked while ive used Ccleaner.

i also downloaded a program called "Clear All History" and it didnt do it.

in the address bar on the far right i clicked the arrow to drop down a list. i hit delete while each one was highlighted until the list got smaller and smaller, but then afterwords clicking on the arrow again the same sites are listed.

EDIT- does it do anything if i just remove Firefox all together and then re install it?

just want to make sure im clear.
if i go to Tools>Clear Private Data>Clear Private Data Now ..then all of the history for the websites is gone, but in the address bar i can start to type in whatever and it still shortcuts to sites that i have visited.
example, i Clear Private Data Now, and under History it is empty, but i type into the address bar- forums.major ..and it automatically fills in the rest of the address for this forum with links ive clicked from this forum.
thats what i would like to be gone.
