Internet is as slow as slow can be!

I recently had to download Adobe flashplayer 10 and Adobe air to save my turbotax info and ever since have been having major internet problems etc...super slow and freezes.
I FINALLY figured out how to remove, but the pc and internet are still running very slow. Since I am signed up with Windows live one care they checked it and tweaked what they needed to, and got me to run a virus/spyware check, registry cleaner etc. so why am I still having a problem? does anyone have any ideas?
