Internet is intermitent

Hi..I'm new to this forum, but my guess is I'll be back often. I did search for an answer to my problem first but didn't see one.

For about two weeks I've had a problem with being on a web site when it freezes the internet exployer will pop open and tell me that it can not find the page I was on. I have a new modem from the cable company because i thouht perhaps it could be on their end...but it isn't.

Does anyone have a clue to what is causing this problem?

 

did you have the problem before the new modem? did you ever not have the problem with your old modem?

 

question...is there a router involved also? or is the computer that is giving you the internet issue directly connected to the modem?, also when they gave you the new modem did they give you a complete new setup including a brand new ethernet cable or are you still using the previous cable that was hookedup to the old modem, the reason I ask is because if its still the old cat5 cable you might want to start there also, its always possible that its a layer 1 issue and your cable is no good, if they gave you a new one and still having the same problem please state so, if your still using the old one try swapping it with a new one. Lastly, can you get on any pages? the second IE loads are you getting a "page cannot be displayed" message or is it a specific site you can't get to, please be a little more specific with the issue so we can help resolve it.

 

THANK YOU GIMSTER123 AND CRASHOVERIDE FOR RESPONDING TO MY QUESTION. THE REALLY ODD THING IS AFTER ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE DAYS THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED! IT NEARLY DROVE ME CRAZY! I STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH THE CABLE COMPANY ON AND OFF FOR DAYS! THEY SAID IT WASN'T ON THEIR END. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? WHAT CAUSED THIS? I'M ON MY COMPUTER TO FIND WORK (I AIRBRUSH AT FESTIVALS AND PARKS) AND ALSO PLAY ALOT ON LINE...SO THIS PROBLEM WAS HORRIBLE FOR ME. WHY DID IT JUST GO AWAY AFTER NEARLY A WHOLE WEEK?
