    Hello,

New here and not too techincal. I got a virus last night, Antivirus live, I followed the directions and removed it with Malewarebytes.

The only problem is now I can only get on the internet while logged into work by remote access. But when I'm not logged into work I get the shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm at the bottom of the page..

I use a wireless connection from home, and I have to be on the internet in order to log into work, so I know I'm connected.

Can someone help? Again not very technical so not sure what steps or data to show on here

how do you get logged into work? Connect to the internet, then VPN in?

Do you have any proxy settings set in IE? Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings button

click start-> run and paste this in:

    Code:
    ipconfig /all >> c:\config.txt
then post the results here. This will copy all of your Ethernet Adapter(s) information to a text file.

    Hello,

For my connection to work, you do have to be on the internet then I VPN in.

In the Lan setting I have Use Proxy selected, just no address or port. And the Bypass Proxy for local Addresses is checked.

I ran the code below - but dont see the file saved on my C drive..

what Operating System are you running? Vista/7 may be keeping you from writing to the C drive.

instead, click start -> run. type in "cmd" without the quotes and press <enter> to get a Command Prompt. Run

    Code:
    ipconfig /all
Now, right-click on the Command Window and choose "mark". Drag over and highlight all of the text in the window and hit <enter>. That will copy everything to the clipboard. Now make a new message here and paste it in.

If someone cannot write to their system drive, they DO NOT BOOT.

    Disregard above.

So it works, at work, but not at home...

Did you check to see if these IP addresses and DNS servers were manually set?

Because I haven't used XP in ages, and my Windows 7 machine is being repaired, take a look at this to find out.
