System and browser information? Did you have a recent problem with this machine?

Open a command prompt, type ipconfig /all
    What do you see?

    Yes, I have windows 7.
as far as the error code is concerned, i went to the site you offered and it seems they have a fix to a dll file. Ill have to try it even tho it is a fix for windows vista. Do you think I can do that for windows 7?
    thanks again

It should be the same fix. I found this answer under the Windows 7 support community.

And if you do a general search for this error code, Windows 7 pops up in almost all of the returns.

Set a restore point first, just for grins.

Your router should not be listed as a DNS server.
Remove it. If you wish a third choice, after the 65.32.5.x ones supplied by your ISP, you can use Open DNS which is 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

That doesn't seem correct either. Normally you want your router to hand out IPs so you enable DHCP.

Ok give me a day or so... I will work on it. I reinstalled Windows 7 see if the issue with windows messenger live dissapeared but it is still not letting me log in...
Thank you both for your help!
