Internet pages keep blinking

Hi, Guys. I started having a problem with my laptop computer about 3-4 weeks ago. I was not doing anything in particular and don't recall downloading anything other than an Adobe file occasionally. I suddenly had a small window popping up. It was constantly blinking very fast. (The IE page behind it was blinking also.) Across the top I was able to see something like the words Windows Program Developer Tools. I think the name of the IE page preceded those words. In the body of the page were some tabs across the page, such as HTML. I constantly tried closing it to no avail. I couldn't close or minimize any page without clicking for several minutes. I couldn't open any links by clicking. I had to right click and open everything as a new page. I tried rebooting. shutting down completely. I checked all the connections. Everytime I logged onto IE, the page would pop up. Finally, after a few days, I minimized it, and it stayed minimized. When I closed IE, it disappeared and I haven't seen it since. However, the webpages on IE still constantly blink, and I have all the other problems as well. When I close an IE page, it arbitrarily pops open again. Sometimes a www.blank page opens. Meanwhile on the Task Bar, each of the file names are scrolling back and forth across the bar and there is a blue arrow pointing NNW and it is also scrolling.

In the meantime, I have OpenOffice Word Processor, and that is not working properly. In my email and in my word processor, I can't drag my mouse over a selection of words to copy them. If I can select them at all, I have to start at one point, hold the shift key and go to the end point and place the curser there. I've gone through the Malware Removal steps and att. logs. We ran an additional test, The Avenger, and att. log.

TimW has spent several days working with me,and I appreciate his help.
TimW suggested that "I post in the software forum for assistance as he does not believe this to be a malware issue; and it sounds like I am missing a driver."

At this point I have Comodo Internet Security Premium and my firewall is on. Is is alright for me to use my E-mail? Thanks for all the help you provide to so many people.
I hope that you will be able to help me.
    Sincerely,
    Elaine Rimbach

    GoldenSkull,
Thank you for replying so fast! No I don't know what video card I have. I will download the new driver. My lap top is 6 years old and I have moved a couple of times. I have been looking for the original disks. How can I find out what video card i have?

This makes me think of something. I was deleting some photos from an SD and I found some Quick Time videos files on it. I don't remember taking more than one (by accident). When I attempted to delete them, I received a message that they were in use and I could not delete them. I always use Win Media Player. I never use Quick Time. How can I can rid of those videos on my SD? Is this video problem related in any way to what is going on with my system?

I ran speccy. I don't understand most of it except possibly video card is ATI ??? I've attached the .txt file.

I went to www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx?lang=en-us. I asked for the auto search for drivers. I received the message: "The NVIDIA Smart Scan was unable to evaluate your system hardware. Please use Option 1 to manually find drivers for your NVIDIA products.

    return_status:fail"

After checking Help, I went to manual search and selected Option 1, Legacy and hit Search. Message came back: "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

Is the monitor pluged into the a port on the Motherboard or is this a separate Video card I am thinking you might have a On board video card that's may be way your mother board is so hot please check.

Your Driver might need a UPdate
    http://www.msi.com/service/search/?kw=RS480M&type=product

And your Cpu seems to be running hot as well so i would make sure you clean your fans If these Are normal temps then yes your fans need cleaning or one of your fans are not working.

Best way i have found to clean a computer is too use a air compressor make sure its unpluged and the main psu switch is off and blow the heck out of it with a Air Tool.

While blowing on the fans make sure you hold them in place so that they do not spin so fast.

I am very computer literate when it comes to applications. I can pick up a new spreadsheet, graphics, word processing program, etc. in a matter of hours, even on a MAC which I never use.

But has far as hardware and what is in the CPU, I am at a loss.I don't know a driver from a video card from a .dll. I didn't know there were fans. Where are they located so I can clean them? I have the lap top sitting on something called a cooling mat or air flow or something. It is on all the time but I put it in sleep mode when I will be away for several hours.

I have noticed for many months now that the lap top very often makes a noise like a quieter version of powering up, and the computer doesn't respond until it stops. Maybe that is a fan running?

"Is the monitor plugged into the port on the motherboard or is this a separate Video card?"
I still don't know what a video card is or how it can be plugged into the motherboard. I know the motherboard is in the CPU. Where would it be plugged in? As for the monitor, I have a much larger monitor from an old DT PC and I have it plugged into the side of the laptop. I have no idea whether it is plugged into the motherboard.

In the meantime, I will go to update

Well it looks like you do have a on board video card i think i found your MOB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130513

Your Video connection on the MOB should be a Blue Connection on the back panel at the top Go to that link i provided it will show you what i mean.

And Is this a Home Built computer or did you by it from place like Dell,IBM,Ect etc

I need too find what kinda case you have.

Fans are like just normal Fans there just smaller you might have to open the case up too look make sure computer is off when you do this and remember where all of the cables are.Just in case you might pull one while opening the case.

I bought the lap top at store like Best Buy.

I really need you to please answer my questions.

I have the Real Tek.....zip file for the driver on my desktop. what should I do with it? I am sorry that I forgot to tell you this. I shut my system down last night. When my it restarted today, a message appeared on the black screen - for too short a time for me to copy it. It starts with
    "Real Tek...[something]...fast ethernet
    ?
    ?
    ?
[something]....unable to find or boot file."

The system then continues to boot up.
I usually put my computer to sleep. If I have shut it down, I turn it on and walk away for a few minutes while it is booting up; so I have seen this screen only once before and forgot it.

Do you think that the lap top making powering noise every few minutes (for at least 30 seconds in length), is a fan coming on? Now that you mentioned fans, that's just what the noise sounds like.

Can I send out E-mail? This is important questions for me. I feel very disconnected.

    New question:
What do you mean by what kind of lap top case I have?

BTW, I have been online for 15 minutes now and have had no blinking, no flickering, no problems at all. What's up????? I can even click on links and they immediately work!

Well sense this is a Laptop i would take it to Some body that's knows how they work on the inside And tell them that it needs a cleaning.

And then get your self one of them Cooling pads for laptops.
    http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=2243862011

I was thinking it was a desktop lol:-D

That's one thing about the Laptops the Heat has really no where to go.

Well in the Zip file there should be a couple of thing to click on the Folder. The way too Open it is too double click the Folder.

Then in folder there should be a Setup.exe it should look like a white page double click on it.Now your real teak audio might need an up date too.

Oh and if you see the word application next to the Setup.exe then that is the one you want to double click on.

Here is a link for your Internet connection

And here is one for your audio.

And here is one for your AMD ChipSet

    Goldenskull,

OK, I'll have someone clean it.

I have it sitting on a cooling pad. I have the pad on the table, folded over with the laptop sitting on top of it.

    Thank you for the links.

BTW, This morning no problems; now they're back. Drat!

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate your time and effort. I love Major Geeks, and I always tell people about it when they are having problems and that's where I go.
