    I am Running:

    Zone Alarm Free Firewall
    Avast Antivirus
    Ad-Aware
    SpamBayes

And using CCleaner to clean up the mess.....

I have found that Zone Alarm, right now is faster than Comodo on the Firewall but not that fast either. I am wondering if it is the combination Avast and Zone Alarm that may not be working well together.

Also, Since I installed Zone Alarm Firewall and Avast, SpamBayes is not working as well.......

This whole thing is a true puzzle...any thoughts?

    Thank you

I run Zonealarm, Avast and Spambayes and have no issues, so don't think that is your problem. However, that said, there is an issue between Avast and Zonealarm that Avast warns you of when you download and install. Personally it hasn't been an issue with any computer I have put them both on, and I understand the new version of Avast resolves this anyway (hard to say not having had the issue myself).

As you don't give details of the problem you are experiencing, other than "not that fast" which is perceptive, it's hard for anyone to advise. Can you give some more information please?

    Thank you Lev......

I feel that seeing the Zone Alarm "activity" box rather than the "Z" is taking too long to process.....it is as bad as when I had Zone Alarm 2007 Internet Security installed and the machine "stuttered".

I do not know if it is the program itself or if it is a conflict with the AV Avast. I do know that the Comodo Firewall made the computer crawl and the wait remined me of Norton or Mcafee.

So I am left hanging as to whether Zone Alarm Firewall is slow in processing or if there is a confilct with Avast creating a slowdown.

    Regards

You could try disabling Zonealarm and re-enabling the Windows one temporarily, to see if this makes a difference. If it doesn't try the other way around...disable the Avast AV with just Zonealarm running and see if that helps. It may help you to eliminate which is slowing your system down , if either.

OK, I went back and forth a few times with the Anti Virus Avast and the Zone Alarm Firewall.

overall the speed is fine.....I think the Avast is slowing down the computer a little bit and definitely more than the Firewall.

Just to test this theory, I am going to re-install Comodo and take out Zone Alarm and see if it is still a problem.

Is there a difference between the 2 Firewalls: Zone Alarm and Comodo?

    Thank you

I haven't used Comodo...maybe other MG members could chime in on this one please?

    No doubt in my mind.....

The Firewall....Both Comodo and/or Zone Alarm slow up the browsing.

I have tried it back and forth many times and Avast is not slowing up the system.

So the question is......Is there a Firewall that protects both in and out that is faster....or is this something that I have to live with?

I guess that was the problem with the "All-in-One" Zone Alarm package as well as the Kaspersky Internet Security.....we won't even touch upon Norton and Mcafee.

I guess I have to ask the question:

Is there a Firewall that will not slowdown the computer?

Comodo and Zone Alarm have a lot of Pop up boxes.....and when there are no Pop Ups, you see it working away stopping the machine from doing its thing.

Paid or free...are there any that will not slow down my computer?

    Thank you

Is it Comodo that you have on all of your computers?

How do you stop all the pop-up boxes asking what to do?

    Thank you
