internet speed slows down

    When i logon to the internet my speed is below normal it used to be 40kbps then it went to 21.6kbps, but now it is at 16.8kbps is there a way i can get it to go back to 40kbps or 21.6 even?

    Check your phone line wiring. I had a similar situation and it happened to be a splitter I was using was causing the issues. Also maybe try to run a direct line from outside to your computer.

    Try picking up the phone hooked to the same jack as the modem, and dialing a single digit to break the dial tone. Listen carefully for a hum or static. Both indicate a line noise problem that could affect your speed.

    alright i will try these,but think of something else incase these don't work ok. oh by the way thanks.

    thses did not help it is still at 16.8.

    I believe you'll have to call your local phone service provider and ask them to come out and check the line.

    You could, go to the point of telephone entry into the building and try to connect there.
