Hey so I've had this problem for a while and I'm deciding to see if I can get it fixed now. When I'm on my desktop I can browse the internet just fine but then websites will just time out and it won't let me go to any websites. Eventually it will start working again but then it will eventually go down. Weird thing is my AIM or any other messenger won't disconnect and if I'm running a bit torrent it wont ever drop either. I've tried it through the motherboard ehternet port, ive bought a pci ethernet card and same thing plus ive tried the wireless that's built into the computer all with the same result. Happens on both ie and mozilla. The other computers in the house don't have that issue so I'm not sure.

I did at won't point have one of the fake antivirus viruses but ive gotten rid of them completely so I'm not sure if maybe my os got corrupt cuz everything else is working except some index program wont close completely when I shut down.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks.

A bit of info about the machine would help.
    Make and model?
    Amount of RAM?
    CPU type and speed?
    Operating System?

i could be possible your networking card is over heating mine used to when it was to close to my vid card but i moved it and any internet issues i had ceased

i used to have a simalier problem and my im wouldnt show any signs of "dying" but my internet wouldnt connect to load pages either

in my case it was a simple over heating hows your system ventalation

System ventilation is good...it's a mobo Ethernet and sometimes it won't even work right when I turn it on....but it's weird that it won't load pages but then I can connect to bit torrent and it'll transfer at 100s of Kbps.

The error at shutdown is just a typical program won't shut down window and i have to hit end now. Program title is "indexstoresrv_cstartuphelper_winclass" so I don't kno what that's all about

Starting to sound like a bad uninstall that left some remnants on your machine.

Click on start, then run and type in msconfig and press ok.
    Click on the startup tab.
Locate NMIndexStoreSvr and uncheck/untick it. Click apply before you close the window.
    Reboot.
You may get a window that says you are running a special startup. You can ignore this. We will fix this a better way if the above was the cause of the problem.

Let me know if the index message is now gone when you shut down. If so, I will go through a better way to manage startup items than using the msconfig method I posted above.
