intervideo win dvd locks up...

i haven't tried watching a movie on my computer in a longgggggg time.
but i was about to watch 1 today.
now i have no vlue of what the problem could be, i insert the dvd into the drive.start/allprograms/ intervideo windvd.
( i have to do that or click shortcuts because my drives dont wanna pick up what i put in there)
back to the problem, the "movie player" just freezes up (not responding)
i dont even get a chance to hit play or even see the main menu

now, i've uninstalled/reinstalled a few times already and still i get the same results.

any help is appreciated

Hi Rice when you insert a DVD disc can you go through Explorer and see if the files on the disc are visible or if it even recognizes the disc in the drive
Have you tried another DVD

 

well, i go my computer. dvd drive (D
it shows 2 folders
audio ts
and
video ts

the audio is empty and the video is just full of file etensions i dont know.

i think its just this particular movie.i can hear my drive makin short,interrupted spins.
but the dvd player just stays frozen.if i eject the dvd,then the player shows back up

 

ok i popped in another dvd(the butterfly effect)

and it works fine.
the other movie looks visually fine though.i see no marks etc...

the files you see are perfectly normal for a dvd disc, and judging from your answers your actual dvd drive is fine unfortunately it looks like that particular disc is corrupted
you could try cleaning it up by gently rubbing with a lint free cloth
just out of curiousity is this disc an original or a back up copy, do you have a home dvd player you could try it in
sorry i cant help much but at least we know your drive is okay, cheaper to replace a disc than a drive

 

well the dvd in question is actually a rental from blockbuster.
but im about to go to leave for a buddys house,ill try playin it in his dvd player
