    Introduction to Windows 7

With our new OS now at release candidate stage, we’ve created a series of videos and resources to help make your road to Windows 7 a smooth one. To fully prepare you for deployment, we’ll be releasing two videos every week in which our experts James O’Neill and Jamie Burgess will give you the information you need on user experience, enterprise, deployment, productivity, application compatibility and security.

The first of seven videos is available for you to watch on TechNet right now:

Thanks! I'll be installing the RC on a new quad-core Intel PC tomorrow or Monday, and every bit of info helps. I ran the beta for a short time and LOVED it!!! It has the visual goodies of Vista, but it's fast... real FAST and has less of the 'intrusive' things that Vista has. From the little I've seen of W7, I really, really like it.
    :-D

EDIT- there's several related links listed at the link posted above by Nick that should prove to be interesting and helpful:

It has a lot better visual goodies than vista, including AeroPeek (basically mouse to the right of the taskbar and your desktop is displayed, remove the mouse and open windows are restored, or click on the bottom right for the old "Show desktop"), desktop background slideshow (cycle through images on your background with customisable change times and images) and lots more!

Using the RC for about a week. Installed in all of 25mins on this old Intel Pentium 1.6GHz, 1.25 GB Ram - ThinKPad lappy. Smooth as silk and quick :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. Perhaps Microsoft have finally made something new and useful?

Second video is up. Lot's of goodies here.

All the rest of the videos are now up but are too far out there for me. I did like the 'IT Productivity' one for the explanation on 'Problem Steps Recorder' which not only records issues but one can create a video of how to do something in no ambiguous terms for the user and much quicker than typing it out, I would think that would be great for a help site to use. This is a great tool which should have already been possible.

The shell is amazing and I hope I have a purpose to learn it. A nice CLI interface with no DOS in sight and very powerful! I haven't watched the last two yet as my head is about to explode!:-D

    From Microsoft:

Automatic shut downs? Every TWO hours?!?!?! Madness!! Madness, I say!!!!

(the quote above was taken from this link which I actually posted above back in mid-May)

Well I agree, it is stupid IMHO. Three months of shutdowns? Do they think that people need that much of a hint to back up their stuff?rolleyes :-D Well, it is in the public domain.rolleyes

I would have thought many who are early adopters and users of the TEST VERSIONS and are going to migrate to Windows 7 would have done so already in October or few months after release at latest.

Then I would also have thought those using betas would also be cluey enough to know that betas end (nothing new and suprising there) and you dont use them on daily critical PCs if you are not wanting to possibly loose data, if you hit the test versions end date, then that is madness!!!

Least you get three months and two hours to backup data if needed or update to full retail, at least they didnt just drop the axe and cut you off without warning :)

Adding to news that Nick posted, if you know who Mark Russinovich is then he is running another Springboard Series in June 18th and this one is on Windows 7 App Compatiblity

If you can make it well worth jumping in and either listening or asking questions.

Hehehe, I think the two hour thing is more for folks that jumped onto the beta bandwagon without really knowing what they were getting into. Us well seasoned and aged folks know better eh? Feb. 28/2010 I will either have W7 RTM on there or I'll be back on Vista.;)

BTW, thanks for the links Halo.:)

No probs, thought you would like the Mark Russinovich Springboard chat, even if you cannot make the live chat, it should be available soon after as download. EDIT: ment to leave this link to the Springboard TechNet site http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd361745.aspx

The E7 teams blog has great info, worth a read of the older stuff too, to see where they where going with this OS.
