Invalid Boot.ini File

Hi!!!I have a one little problemos with my boot.Today when I boot my comp I see this on my monitor:Invalid Boot.ini file , Start C:Windows.how to repair this problem??Thanks in advance.

What version of windows?

Your boot.ini file should contain this info if you have one disc and one one partition with XP.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

The boot.ini file is located at root ie C:\ but will need to be made visible.
If you can boot to safe mode delete the contents of the boot.ini file (save them first if you feel edgy) and then copy & paste the above into it. Save & reboot.

If you cannot get into safe mode at all then depending on whether you have FAT32 or NTFS, you will need to boot to dos with a Win98 floppy or use a prog called EditBINI in the case of NTFS,

In which case if you are interested the contents of the boot.ini should be

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

And the location of the boot.ini file is at root ie C:\ not C:\windows
