Invalid page fault

My daugther in law has asked me to help her with this problem. She is using Win 98 se O.S. and when she turns on her H.P. Scanjet 3300c scanner she gets the following error message:Error message on H.P. Scanjet 3300c as follows}This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Hi Potszer,

She might be getting the error because the Still Image Monitor is no longer running on her computer.

Click START > RUN > type MSCONFIG > click OK. Click on the STARTUP tab. Locate the StillImageMonitor (that is how it reads) or STIMON.
Put the checkmark back in and click Apply > OK.
It will prompt her to reboot the computer. Click YES.
