Inverter to run PC on 12v DC

    Not sure where to post this......

    Anyway my father wants to power his net-book on his boat (12v DC), and has been advised that he needs a DC 12V to AC 230V Power Inverter, but that it must have a Pure Sine Wave output.....the only thing most retailers don't specify the type of output.

    Can anyone shed any further light, we are based in UK.

    You can buy them at most Computer stores as well as the likes of Wal-mart....er, maybe Tesco. Most are made to plug into the cigarette lighter outlet or auxiliary outlet, but you could just strip the wires on the end and put on alligator clips. Just make sure it supplies enough wattage for your computer as some do vary in output.

    Yes, there a several on websites like Amazon too, but most do not state or are of modified sine wave, but we have been advised to use pure sine wave type?????
