Invisible file...

I couldn't decide if this was more of a malware forum problem, or a software problem, but I think software is more appropriate.... Windows XP Home SP2. I've been clearing some malware from a PC and up 'til now, everything has gone fairly well. I was running a scan with Super AntiSpyware and it gets to a file in the system32 folder called 'Bite62.sys'. It's pretty obvious that it's malware. But the scan just locks up on this file. The program doesn't stop responding (I've checked the task mgr and the timer still ticks away the seconds); it just stops scanning on that file. I let it sit for over 30 minutes and it won't go past it. So was going to remove it manually and I can't find it. I ran an advanced search for it, and couldn't find it. I enabled the viewing of hidden files and I enabled the viewing of system files, and it's still "invisible". Is it possible to ultra-hide a file? I thought if a spyware scanner could see it, then I should be able to see it via explorer but that isn't the case....

I was able to remove the file by booting to a PE CD. I browsed to the system32 folder and there it was... it deleted without issue...

I'd be real curious to learn how the file was hidden so well.
Before you eliminated it, did you check the size and creation date?
