I have had and used on my PC for a while IObit’s Advanced SystemCare, which was freeware. Is it no longer freeware? I have tried downloading various versions from Majorgeeks but after a period of time it asks me to purchase a licence.

To me ASC is sneakware, constantly trying different ways to get you to upgrade to the paid for version through the way it uses checkboxes. So I suspect you have unwittingly caused this and it may not be possible to undo it, not even by uninstalling it with a good uninstaller such as Geek Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller. It's still free for me but what happens if you simply ignore the request?

I don't think I've agreed to anything. I'm not one of these people who just ticks boxes, I read what they ask and practically refuse permission for everything. Getting me to say yes, or part with money, is difficult: just ask my partner:confused:. It won't let me use it. It insists I buy a licence. I agree the uninstallers don't help. Well, the one I used doesn't which is IObit Uninstaller. What I am able to do, though, is get the free trial period again. May be I'll just have to keep doing that.

When a program's trial period expires, it's over. You can't get it again. While there are ways to overcome this, it's illegal.
Try Earthling's suggestion and uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller.

I am not attempting to do anything illegal nor find a work around to do so and object strenuously to the accusation.

The reason I have uninstalled it is because after a period of time I have been asked to register for a licence. Everytime I uninstall it and go for another copy I download it from Majorgeeks. Perhaps Majorgeeks should stop misleading me. The copy I choose to download says freeware - this clearly is not true!

I'm not accusing you of anything. From experience I know it's not possible to re-install a trial program.

Maybe IObit want's users to uninstall and then re-install their free software every 30 days in an attempt to get users to buy the programs. The publisher doesn't have the greatest of reputations...
That said, their software is good, but there's always an alternative.

A good alternative to Iobit Advanced SystemCare is glary utilities which is a free product with a possibility to purchase a pro license and also there is wise care 365 which also another good product. So really the choice is yours.
