hello folks, I have had the uninstaller free version for many years, it did the job of a basic uninstall and I finished it off with the help of Everthing and disc C//: to clean out any of the leftover files, well today I paid £14.95 for the pro version because it promises to get rid of all the leftovers for me, saving a tired git a few minutes peace.
What an idiot, I am still waiting for the activation code to be sent to my email address, even when iobit.com said it would only take a couple of minutes to organise, that is the small problem, with the up grade and without my permission iobit downloaded and installed a program called itop, this encroaching monster did away with my desktop icons for the C//: drive, microsoft edge and disconnected my avast securty suite from the internet, obviously the IObit unistaller could not/did not want to, unistall the critter, so I sat with Everything on a split screen with disk C and went through a page full of folders and files trying to delete all of them, I have to admit that quite a few did delete with out much of a fight, but the rest, omg, it meant opening the individual folders and deleting the files inside and some of those were a nightmare, when I had what I thought was a clean slate I headed for the recycle bin to fully delete the remains, the recycle bin did not/ could not remove the remains of the monster, so has a final act I turned to an old favourite JRT, I have kept the original download icon for years, and yes the junk removal tool shifted the bones from my pc, I am £14.95 down and I intend to unistall iobit and reinstate it as it was, a free download, I will pursue a total refund but I am not holding my breathe.
Why have I told you 0f this marathon task, it is to make you think before upgrading anything with proper searches as to what you are letting your self in for, final word please do not use JRT if you have no knowledge of it, JRT can be a saviour or a wrecker at times.

I've downloaded iTop Easy Desktop before, it a free alternative to StarDock Fences, never had that experience. When you said it messed with the desktop that is all I could think of, but itop does have other software and a VPN service they sell. Interesting...

well foogoo it was certainly interesting trying to eradicate the the problems that it left me with, it wasn't malware as malware goes but it is intrusive in that it changed quite a lot 0f icons including cancelling a lot shortcut icons, any way I am now rid of both IObit and itop after a long spell with Everything, I now need to search for another uninstall program rather than use the onboard microsoft one, so many thanks foogoo for your reply as all donations are gratefully received.

I have never had an issue with Iobit sending key's.

If they don't send right away use this link https://www.iobit.com/en/lostcode.php

FYI never had an issue removing iobit. Every program or file still leaves traces left be hind. Not every thing is a clean uninstall.

XoXgaming, thanks for the reply. no code for activation has been received by me up to date, iobit. com had their money immediately, when I tried to find out what was happening the three different email address that they gave me all showed 404 errors, as for uninstalling iobit and itop I found that they would not co operate in way shape or form, if you have never had a problem with either of them then thats your good luck, by the way on the lostcode.php site I filled in all of the details but NOTHING happened, as I said I have removed both parties and will be seeking a refund, I have had a computer and windows for twenty eight years so I regard my self a bit more than novice who does know what he is doing

plodr, the geek uninstaller looks to be fine, I like the idea of no instal just portable, I will get back to you in the future about the move to it, I had the revo when it first came many years ago even then it still beat the onboard microsoft one.
