Our tough little Dell 333 came with an Iomega 100mb Zip Drive, back in 98. Well it appears as if our zip drive has finally taken retirement. Searchs for a replacement haven't been too successful. It would be easy enough to simply do without it except an awfully lot of our forms, documents, lists, etc are stored on Zips. Any ideas anyone may have about where to look for a replacement internal zip drive will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

I am uncertain if they even make the 100 anymore. However, you can buy the newer 250 (internal or external) which will accomodate the older 100's discs. There may even be a newer model (larger storage) than the 250, but I'm not sure. I still use my old Iomega 100 (internal) and she hasn't given up the ghost yet, but when it does I'm going to go with the 250, or larger. As for buying one, well I use www.newegg.com for all my computer parts. They are ALOT cheaper than retail stores and they stand behind what they sell. For example, I recently purchased a KVM from Newegg for $24.00 whereas 'Best Buy' had the same brand and model for $56.00. You could also go to www.iomega.com and check out what's new along those lines. Hope this helps!!!!

Thank You Stubby. Admittedly it's been a while back but the last time I knew anything about Zips the 250 was now available but it wouldn't read 100's. Should have guessed everything would be different now. Thanks for the tip and the eddress. Newgg here I come. K.

I just followed my own advice and checked out the manufactures site, and I didn't realize that Zip drives come in a 750 format, or that they can be USB powered. And that they still do make the 100s. Man, I have to get out from under this rock more often! Anyhow Kay Three, I'm just glad I could be of help.

Zip drives are not particularly reliable - see this site: http://www.grc.com - there are some free tools there that can help you avoid losing data. I would not invest in a new Z100 or 250 drive. Get a used one off eBay (or the for/sale section here, or the similar sections on other good fourums like Anandtech) for a song and just use it to move your z100 data over to CDs - much less expensive, holds at least six times the data on a 20 cent disk, and more reliable too.

I have a 100 MB Iomega that I bought years ago. Trouble is....The Install that I downloaded in 2004 is on a 4" floppy and I don't HAVE a 4" drive anymore. Can anyone copy this 4" onto a Disk.....Office Depot maybe? I'm frantic. Had not looked at it for a few years but I have a manuscript on an Iomega disk and now can't access it.
