IOS, Windows and all the others

Not sure if this is the correct forum so here goes. Is it just me or am I the only one tired of the fragmentation in the computer industry? Nothing really works very well together and I'm tired of patching everything together to make it work. At work I am responsible for approx. 20 computers that use either Windows 7, XP, 8 or 8.1. I also maintain window servers. So I am fairly confident as to how to make things work.

Now we have phones with Apple, Windows and Android. The same applies to tablets though we need to throw in Amazon also. Soon also Amazon may be added to the phone mess.

Then we have streaming devices by the above and others such as Roku. As a side note I do like my Amazon Fire streamer as limited as it is.

Now to my complaint. What is the best way to share all of this content? Can it be done? Or does one have to subscribe to one ecosystem and stay along that line. For example should one have an I phone, Apple computer and tablet? I'm tired of having movies on one device, pictures and music on others. I'm open to all suggestions. I've considered going with Windows 8.1 computers then a windows phone and purchase a surface 3 in the future. I don't like the weight of the current Microsoft Surface 2 Pro. At work I do use programs that simply will not run on Android or IOS.

I am a big Amazon user for home and work. However I do not like the Kindle Fire warped Android UI. If any one has a suggestion on how to easily share pictures, videos, music, files, etc. easily I am more than willing to listen. Or at this point in time can it not easily be done. Simply trying to simplify my life.

Or build your own website to share data. Requires much more work, of course.
