    Hey MajorGeeks,
My question about an IP Address is if one can be copied for use on a different computer. I am not very familiar with this topic so please excuse me if the question is not phrased entirely correct.

If several computers on an LAN have a static IP address, and then other computers located elsewhere in the same company have different individual IP addresses, is it possible to modify those outside computers to temporarily reflect the exact same IP address as those connected to the LAN without physically connecting them to the LAN? If so, what would be required to make this possible? Thank you for looking into this issue.

I don't really understand what you are trying to do? But let me try. You have a LAN let's say LAN1 with let us say 5 comuters connected together via a hub. Then you have another LAN let's say LAN2 with another 5 computers connected in a seperate location, LAN1 and LAN2 have no way of interacting with each other? If that is the case then I see no reason why you can't have the same IP addresses. So let us say that in LAN1 you have computer1 and in LAN2 you have computer 1 then they can have the same IP address as long as LAN1 doesn't know LAN2 exists and vice versa. Hope that awnsers things for you.

Any IP address is possible, as long as no 2 computers on the same LAN have the same IP. If those two LANs are completely separated, there shouldn't be any problem. But then, what are you trying to accomplish by doing this? If you plan to fool the LAN into thinking the computers are connected, that won't work.
