IP Problem

I know i can surf anonymously on the Internet through a proxy but what if I want my wireless router to show a different ip address instead of the original ip? just in case I have a devise connected and I don't want that devise to broadcast the original ip? is that possible to do and how if its possible. thank you..

 

If I understand you correctly, you want to change the IP address of your router. Your question makes me suspicious of your intensions but... The IP address of your router is assigned by your ISP--most likely via DHCP. The IP address of the router must be within the range of its subnet, as defined by the subnet mask. For example, if my IP address is 10.10.10.10 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (a typical class C), then my computer must have an IP address between 10.10.10.1 and 10.10.10.254 (.0 is the network address and .255 is broadcast). Even if you change your router to a static IP, using a different address within that range (and you're lucky enough not to duplicate someone else who already has that IP assigned via DHCP), your router can still be identified at the ISP's router by its MAC address. Any such change assumes that the routing tables of your ISP update for the IP to MAC change. Also, your ISP most likely tracks the traffic based upon your modem--but that's a discussion outside of my area of expertise. In my opinion, even if you are successful in changing your IP, you're most likely not going to evade your ISP identifying you. Perhaps someone with more networking experience can take a better crack at this inquiry.

 

Anyhow changing you IP from original to what? Still if it´s different it´s just your new original. There´s the unique MAC address in your device, for which your ISP is leasing the IP and the lease time (time for the IP is reserved to you incase you don´t renew it after a period / your device is offline)

So being offline for sometime might help too, Mine takes 3 days so..

There´s way´s of changing the MAC address, so you could get different IP faster ofcourse but... still.
