ip to ip

I would like to make a progam in VB that can open up a game (like Quake), go into netplay then enter a specified IP address for a IP to IP connection with out any user involvement. Does anyone know if this can be accomplished, and if so how?

 

I don't think it can be done, because the vb would have to call quake and set all of the parameters. If it could be done, it would be a heck of a lot of coding.

 

Well, firstly, for every game you want to use you would need to make some sort of a file telling the program what to do with that certain game, probably a way of detecting the games you have installed as well. Basically like gamespy? Im sure there are some command line params that you can set to launch the game directly into an IP - IP connection, i know Half Life has them, but would be worth some research.

If it were just command line params, then it would be one or two lines of code per game. If you had to launch the game and then input the details into a form in the game, the code would be hellish, especially in VB. And you would need to get the API documentation for every game that you would want to do this for, which wouldnt be easy !!

Couldn't you just use a Windows macro program?

 

you could do that i supose, but it would be better to just emulate the mouse movement and keypresses within your program.
IE tell windows to move the mouse the click the button and stuff, onyl problem is as you start getting diferent resolutions you will be having to program for each one.
most games have command line things to start the game, look em up.
