ipod backup software

can someone recommend a good free software to backup my ipod classic. i have tried a couple and they seem to get stuck... can someone HELP!!! i really dont want to lose my library.

Sorry for my rather short response, i was in a rush going out for lunch and thought you would reply if you had tried using itunes and i could then work from there.

Do you mean on your ipod classic itself or the music files in the iTunes folder on your pc.

If the former then follow the simple instructions provided by js119895. Also to overcome the problem of the odd naming ie AFCZ.mp3 use MP3Tag.
