My son got a newish charger for his ipod and the charger melted down and now there appears to be a short in the ipod as it is not powering up and when I put it into my computer to charge,it blew and shut down my computer...............:cry
My question in your opinion,is the ipod completetly toasted or do you think if I replace the battery,we might have some joy?:)

    Hi

Its possible, but quick question did you get an Apple branded iPod replacement charger? reason I ask this is some chargers have different charge rates and while these should not cause any issues, none FCC or RoHS compliant devices may just be so cheap that have poor wiring that could cause an issue.

So when plugging in the iPods USB cable it blew, by blew did it make a noise or flash anything on screen?

Depending in what model iPod the battery could be expensive as sadly you have to get Apple to change them (unless a 3rd party does this that I know of none off hand) so you'd have to check with Apple support, just call one of the Apple Stores if one is close.
