ipod problem

after I changed my motherboard i realized that my ipod needed charging so i plugged it into the front usb port and it showed the charging sign and all that. All good, right? NO Upon turning it on in the morning I found that it had DRAINED the battery rather than charge it! So now the batter is dead and I decde to plug it into one of the the mobo usb ports. nothing. zip. nada. nada nada limonada. doesnt even get detected or start to charge or anything. Any ideas

 

Have you tried running other hardware off the USB ports, to ensure it is not a USB failure?

 

yea i have my printer, mouse, and keyboard running on USB

 

Do you have any way to test the charger cable? Do you have a mains charger for your iPod? At least then you could eliminate the ipod and it's peripherals as being the problem, and know to focus just on the PC ?

 

it charges in my brother's ipod speakers, ill try his cable tomorrow

 

Try his cable on your machine..I think that's what you meant. Let us know how you get on

 

tried his cable, didnt work. tried front USB ports, back mobo ports, and the USB add-on ports, none of which produce any sort of result Just to make sure the ipod itself still worked i stuck it into my bro's portable ipod speakers which doibles as a charger and it charges up fine there. very odd......

 

Are all USB ports 1.1 and 2.0 compatible and high-powered?
