I have an 8GB iPod touch and I was shocked to find out today when I plugged it into my computer that the 'other' section of data was taking up 2.25GB! Now i understand the operating system takes up some room, as well as album art for cover flow. However, I might have a max of forty albums on there at the moment, and there is no way 40 pictures w/ song data and the operating system take up 2.25GB. I don't have anything else on there, no contacts, pictures, videos, nothing. Just about 4GB of music so far. Is this normal? How can I reduce the amount of space that 'other' is taking up?

Unless you copied some data files over to it as a "spare hard drive", you are correct; that is too much. I would suggest doing a full restore on your iPod and then copying your music over again. Note: a full restore will wipe the iPod.

Thanks Jamiko, that was what I was thinking. There definitely has to be something wrong there, and I know I didn't use the iPod as a storage device so I'll have to work something out.

Problem number 2: Anyone know how to share an itunes library over a network and still be able to sync an iPod to it? iTunes doesn't play well with Vista 64 and I want to sync my iPod up, however I want to keep my music on my vista computer to play though my speaker system etc. If I could share it over a network, i could sync though my laptop. If that's possible?
