bought an ipod nano and it wont install properly. programme installs but wont transfer music to ipod. uninstalled and reinstalled more than once. uninstalled everything that said itunes or ipod from 'search'. handfull of folders wont uninstall (??) last time someone tried to install ipod/itunes our keyboard ps2 driver went (??). i think there is a virus or something in the ipod/itunes software (?) scanned with spybot, spyblaster, and trend micro. nothing shows up. cleaned with ccleaner and cleanup for good measure. system restored to before the programme was installed but its still there. wont remove completely from 'add/remove programmes'. looked under 'search' for similar probs but dont really understand enough to work out if the posters were have the same probs or different ones. there seems to be a lot of them though. if anyone can help quickly i would appreciate it, as i was gonna take it back this afternoon. much aloha

Quick isn't easy, your post format is very difficult to follow.

If iTunes is working, then the only other issue should be to format the ipod for windows.

    Have you done that?

sorry, if it was unclear. too late now :) the ipod nano doesnt come with a disk, so im not sure how its supposed to work. or how one would 'format' it. presumably i tunes is simply somehow supposed to recognises it. (but NOT) anyway sod em. follow up question...what is a 'cabinet file'?

A compressed file, using Microsft's .cab compression scheme.

they appear all over the place. is it all right to delete them?

Depends on what they are, and where they are.

they have initials..like say BDFE...and they are in the music folders i was trying to 'tidy up'. (i was deleting all the video files, and there are a string of these cabinet files).

If they are simply in a music folder, then they are probably safe for deletion.
