Ipv6 Addresses Vs Ipv4

after switching to a new router,

when I ping, windows command promp, the address comes back in ipv6 not v4, 4 octets
is this from router somehow? never had this before

can this be changed back to ipv4 octets displayed?

 

1. Use the shortcut, Windows Key + X to open the Control Panel.
2. Open Network and Internet.
3. Open Network and Sharing Center.
4. Click Change Adapter Settings.
5. Right-click your connection and go to Properties.
6. Uncheck the box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) to disable it.

Should default back to IPv4

 

thanks that worked, not sure how that switch could have suddenly been changed to on, after not being on forever, oh well, maybe someday I can figure out how to read ipv6 addressing after working with the 4 octets for 22 years
