Get a lot of graphics/video files by email from a friend in the UK. The problem is that the extensions are not recognized when I go to open them.
Anywho somebody recommended Irfanview as a option to solve this problem, as they told me it's a *free program, and can convert most files to gif or jpg or whatever. (*budget kind of tight right now)
    Any opinons on this appreciated.:)

Another thumbs up here. Less confusing than P-shop but lots more than MS paint. Great program!

my supplied sony software ( came with camera ) and I messed up many image files trying to figure out the software. I need to master the fast conversion of big files to small files for email transmission, and for the likes of uploading to ebay for sale listing, OR keep them same size and just add compression ( but I wonder if I add compression to reduce size , will recipients be able to UNcompress)?. whatever reason the files are not going thru, ebay customer service isn't going to be much help

BUT THE BIG news is Irfanview corrected the format mislabeling damage the sony software had led me to create, all automatically just from installing it!! If this is what the rest of the program is like , i might have faith in computers revitalized.

I found w2k "imaging "and "paint " offer the intewntion to resize and convert files from bitmap to jpeg , but the reality is so much different than the instruction

I have downloaded Irfanview and all the plugins recently, and am totally amazed what this program can do. Sometimes really good stuff happens. It helps if some top geek guides you along the way though...................

I used Photochop for a long time, until I found Irfanview. I rarely use photoshop anymore. IrfanView is excellent. Spend some time exploring this proggie, you will be quite surprised at what it can do. :)
