IRQL Error need help !!!

Technical information:

With no file listed just this stop error message, what is it that causes this I need some help Windows XP PRO has been installed on this system for about a few years, it is a DELL Dimension XPS with the basic components and one 120 GB SATA HDD.

 

What are you doing on the PC when this error pops up? More details would be helpful: any software recently installed/uninstalled, any hardware added/removed, etc....

I agree that some additional information is needed to figure out what is causing the problem. What are you doing when it happens (opening a program, clicking something in Winodws, etc)? Have you made any changes about the same time the problem started? If its not a hardware failure, then a change (new program, uninstalled something, update, etc) is usually the cause.

Another good thing to go over is the MS knowledge base article on that stop error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183169 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314063
They indicate drivers or hardware as the most likely cause.

If you suspect a hardware failure I would recommend running the Dell diagnostics (boot from the Resource CD, or press F12 at the Dell splash screen just after powering on and selecting On Board Diagnostics) to check your hardware for failures.
