Irritating Problem

Since I'm not sure what the problem is I'll guess software. I run the virus scan (Panda) daily and it shows no infection. A week or so ago suddenly none of my login info for web sites seems to be remembered. I have to manually login with each visit - very annoying. Windows used to remember all this stuff and did so perfectly for years, now all of a sudden no. With each login I repeatedly tell it to remember but no one is listening. I have XP Pro.

 

Information such as log ins are placed in small files called "cookies".
It sound as though your "cookies" have been deleted.
Once you log in to a site now, can you go to it again without the log in?
(What I mean is: do you have to go through the log in routine just once or every time you go to a site?)

 

I thought of that and I also dump cookies when I do a defrag. BUT this happens with every logon. Each time I enter the username and password I again click the box that says remember me, just like on here...but it doesn't remember. As far as I know nothing has changed on my puter except this little demon. I run Panda virus protection and have Spyhunter just in case but it runs only on demand. Panda says there is no virus.

ARGH!! The problem has returned. SHould I repeat the steps again? They don't appear to be a permanent fix. :guns

 

I think it's time to try steps 3 and 4 of the MS help sheet that LauraR linked to.
Let us know if this clears your problem permanently, please.

 

Adjust Cookies!!!

Make sure that cookies are turned on. Also, based on the website, Internet Explorer might regect that Cookie, so make sure cookies are set to Allow All. Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Move the slider all the way up. Let me know what happens.
