Is AVG 9 Free still supported?

I have Windows XP, SP3, AVG 9 Free, and all was fine until I updated the AVG today. It won't update, tells me "A .binfile is missing" but I can't find out what file. I went to AVG site, and only finding updates for 10 & 11. Is AVG 9 being replaced? Seems like I should have recieved something before now.

Here is what I have:

• AVG 9 Free Edition
• Virus Databse Version: 3183 ------------------Update is 3184
• Link Scanner Database Version: 360 -------- Update is 362
• Link Scanner Database Version -----------------Update is 249

Do I need to update to a newer version of AVG? Like maybe the new AVG AntiVirus Free Edition 2011 10.0.1120???

 

Hi TeeCee - version 9 free is still being supported so it sounds like yours has become corrupted, so you may have no choice but to update or use something else. I've been progressively dropping AVG and installing MSSE, which has been fine. However I still have v9 on one system -

 

Thanks Earthling & Plodr It just updated fine, yup, looks like they had an 'issue' this morning. I rebooted repeatedly, and it wouldn't update, but now it is:

VDB: V 217.1.1/3184
Link Scanner: V362

Back to the norm now.
