Is computer haunted or what?

My co-worker bought a new computer, an e-machine, about 3 months ago and it,generally speaking, has perfromed very well. However, the monitor died a few days ago. She bought another one and plugged it in and it wouldn't get any signal from the computer. We checked the monitor on another computer and it worked fine. I took the computer back to Best Buy and everything worked fine, including the monitor plug. I brought it back to the office and plugged everything in and the monitor wouldn't work. Same thing - no signal. I have checked the connection several times and tried restarting. No luck.

Aso, probably unrelated, the on/off switch doesn't work well at the office but while at the store, works like a charm.

Do I have a "haint" in my office, or what? Does anyone have any idea about why this computer does great at the store and works with problems at the office?

    Thanks for any help!!

Boooo!! Sorry, just had to do that.
Does the computer have onboard video or a video card ....thinking that it needs to be pulled and reseated .....just could be a iffy connection.
Do not unplug the monitor with the system on!!
    Same for video card.
    Report back.:) :)

    Thanks, Sarge.

I was able to find out the problem - the surge strip she was using either wore out or was the victim of a surge. It allowing a smaller amount of current to flow through than was necessary. When I replaced that everything was healed, even that damn on/off switch.

I appreciate your taking time to try to assist me!!
