A managed switch can replace people? Then he says the console port is to connect to other switches..

Unless you have more than 6 computers. This item is pointless. Most modems any more come with at least 5 Ethernet ports. And including wifi.

Edit: if his TV loaded slowly then he had crappy internet service. Not the modem.

The dude must be in cahoots with Cisco and his sales pitch is aimed squarely at the company accountants.........because we all know that they love to cut costs and those pesky IT guys that make our life difficult by insisting we change our passwords all the time and stopping us accessing Facebook and Twittter and ebay and eHarmony and Craigslist...... on company time are so expensive and they have got to go to save the company's bottom line

Just quietly an unmanaged switch requires almost zero setting up but I guess you can't apply a group policy to that or give different data quotas and priorities to different segments of network traffic and also different users can have different levels of network access and bandwidth allocation..........whoa there.........hang on......... doesn't the IT guy setup all these things.........doesn't the IT guy keep these things updated and iron out any minor issues so the network can run to capacity......... and he no longer works here :oops:o_O
Don't worry though everything is OK because the accountant got a big productivity bonus for ditching the IT guy and now the company will just have to get in a contractor at double the cost :(
    ............and this is progress

Ooops.....Sorry for the lack of warning [rant OFF]

Agreed on modems these days come with multiple ports and if you need to have internet around the home, and don't wish wifi, then powerline works really well, we use at home both powerline to PVRs but wifi to other things like laptops, phones, tablets, and TVs

Recently, I have become more anti- wireless technology due to the radiation that it emits. Some might call me paranoid.

Wireless signals are all around you whether you access for your personal use or not.
You may be paranoid, but you're not shielded!
