Is heat that much of a problem?

Take a look at my system (in my sig). Now imagine that running in a mid-tower case with one 80mm intake fan and the PSU exhaust. The machine works remarkably well, but I noticed something strange. I took the door off my case for a little bit (which means I unplugged the intake), and everything got slower. On Counter-Strike:Source, my ping (which was usually in the 60s) jumped to almost 4500:(. The second I plugged the fan back in waited about 30 seconds, my ping returned to normal. I'm an OCer by hobby, so I knew heat was bad, but this serious? I had no idea. Anyone else have a similar experience?

It is verry simple too understand. We alway have at least 2 fans in simple case 1 in front and the other at back case, the air flow is heading from front to back of case in closing space. When the case was opened, the heading air flow go wrong, so you knew what happen to t*.

More fans the better, I say.
But yes heat is something to consider, especially if you're overclocking.

I'm not so sure more fans the better ... but getting the airflow going correctly ... if you have too much intake none of the hot air is escaping, in that case less fans would be better .. I remember reading some article saying exactly how to test the airflow but I forgot exactly how .. something about listening to the noise the air makes and making sure it doesn't sound like it's pulling or pushing too hard

I unplugged my side fan because it was spitting too much dust into my computer(as dust is a problem in my room I'm not too sure how to fix) .. since dust can clog a heatsink I thought it was better to unplug it ... and my temps weren't affected at all .. plus the noise level was reduced

t*in your case depend on enviroment t*, so if puting more fans that they pull heating t* in case out it better. it is verry good for side fan, top fan near CPU, and I think moding more side fan case near near PCI and VGA card is very good. and I remember when I like OCing the first case I moded to OC 2g4 precott@ 3g4 stable by airflow but it make noise like a server case.
