Thats not actually true thundermoon. You can have 2 or more OS's on one hard drive. The one problem that you might encounter is that they have to be installed at the begining of the drive. I currently have XP and Linux on my laptop. It took a while to get them both working but it can be done. If your going to attempt it back up your harddrive first cause if you **** it up its hard to get back to the way you were.

Do a search on GOOGLE for installing two operating systems. There is alot of info out there.

Thundermoon is partially correct. You can have:

    1 active partition.

    4 primary partitions.

bunches of extended partitions (dont know the limit).

Your OS doesn't have to be on an active partition to boot. It does, however, need to be on a primary partition. An OS on an extended partition will not boot. I am speaking from the windows world. I don't know how different it is in Linux. I would assume not much at all.
