Is it just me or are the ATI Catalyst drivers after 5.1....

...terrible?

I ran 3DMark 2001 to compare

5.1 CATS:

Now I notice with the 5.2's and 5.3's in game it will run ok.. then suddenly drop to 5fps and come back up.. the 5.1s NEVER do that. It dropps framerate in all the games I play, I run the game games with 5.1 and they all run good.

Look at the HUGE difference between FPS on teh Pixel shader test on each one.. 5.1's give me 255FPS and 5.3's give me 99.3FPS

Yes V-sync is off, and they were both run at the same settings. WTF is going on here??

 

Since I cant edit I also want to note that look at the difference in scores with both High Polygon Count tests:


5.1: 77.3
5.3: 25.7


5.1: 15.4
5.3: 14.6

 

new driver don't always make everything better.......if it works, why fix it.......I know we have to check out, a new driver, but, if you find that an old driver works, then go back to it........wobbles

 

I just got the latest ones and they work better then the 5.1's

There had to be something going on with the 5.2's and 5.3's causing some kinda slowdown
