I switched to cable internet and am now having a few problems.
Lenny(debian) on an old P4 1.7 ghz- configuration worked fine for 3 years on DSL. rolleyes

Now every morning at about the same time (within a min or 2) my connection seems to be reset and even though the connection shows as active on my pc, I have no connection till I reset the router(oddly enough the router and modem show all connected and green :confused)
I have attached a screen shot just in case I am missing the obvious :-D

The ? being is it the router, my operating system,or is it comcas* trying something hinky?

Tried to activate a Comcast account with a Linux box recently, had to use Windows or Mac, rep had never heard of Linux/Unix. Windows did the connecting, after that all went well over wireless and ethernet connections. Guessing it is a comcast thing. Maybe no static IP address? ipconfig and ifconfig may shed some light on the problem, check before the connection is lost and after the router is cycled. Sounds like it may be an address renewal issue, as the connection works after you cycle the router, and it happens with continuity.

I've been with Comcast since June 2004. I'm currently running an eeepc with Xandros/Debian etch wireless and a desktop with PCLinux 2009 wired and have had no problems of what you are experiencing so I'd say it is somewhere in your setup.

Have you updated the router firmware?

Yup after banging my head it was the router (old belkin)
Switched to a new(to me) Linksys wireless router BEFW 11S4 and all is well.
odd that it died when I moved?-- oh well off to work/play on the laptop while tending the north 40! love that wireless.
