    Hey guys,

I just bought my girlfirend SIMS 2 for Christmas and it runs really REALLY slow.

I thought I met all the minimum requirements, but there are 2 different sets of requirements:
    What is T&L?

This is what DirectX is telling me about my vidoecard:
    NAME: Radeon Mobility
Chip Type: Mobility Radeon AGP (0x4C59)
    DAC Type: Internal DAC(350MHz)
Aprox Total Memory: 16 MB [the 1st requirements says AT LEAST 32MB]

Do I need a newer and better video card for the game to run faster?

Thanks guys ... I appreciate the help!

    I also meant to ask:

If I need a new video card what do you suggest? Can my computer handle a fatser video card?

    Specs:
    Dell Inspiron 4100
    Windows XP Home Edition
    Intel Pentium III Mobile PCU
    512MB RAM
Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A07

Yes it is your vid cards now vidcard come almost everytime with at least
    64 megs or 128 megs.

    And the definition of T&L:

    From the nVidia website's glossary:

Transform & Lighting (T&L) definition: Two separate engines on the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) that provide for a powerful, balanced PC platform and enable extremely high polygon count scenes. Transform performance determines how complex objects can be and how many can appear in a scene without sacrificing frame rate. Lighting techniques add to a scene's realism by changing the appearance of objects based on light sources.

T&L video cards started shipping around 3 years ago, so if you got your computer in the last couple of years you should check and see if you have a T&L card.

    Hope this help....

Your Dell laptop has the video circuitry (not card) hardwired to the motherboard. You can't plug in a high powered video card.

Most of the newest games are very demanding, both on the video card and the cpu. Lots of the newest games require T&L to run at all, much less run well. Only a few of the newest high-end lap-tops can run them well. Check the game's minimum requirements carefully before buying them for that machine.

Thanks GT. Aftering doing some more recent and checking out Dell.com Forums, I found this out. I guess I'll either be purchasing a new computer or selling the game on Ebay.

    Thanks for the info.
