After a number of failed attempts to completely restore my backup to a new hard drive, I have wound up with a bit of a mess. On the last try, I found that the computer had finally processed the complete restore but the organization was wildly different from original computer setup. I now have the following user accounts:
Default, Lura, Lura H, LuraAnne & Public. I presume it is normal to have Default and Public but the only user account I purposely set up was LuraAnne and it covers the full backup while Lura and Lura H cover only portions. Lura H was set up as the administrator on one of the restore attempts. I want my original LuraAnne as the only user and as administrator. Can I merge the other 2 Luras or just delete them? I thought that if I can merge them I will avoid the possibility of losing something I need. When I go into Control panel it only shows Lura H and Guest - the others don't show up at all which makes me nervous about deleting Lura H.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I have ever had to do a restore and you may be able to tell it is by the seat of my pants. Do not want to make any more disastrous choices...

Merge sadly no easy way to do this and looks as if you have a little bit of a mess there is the recovery of your backups, could have been due to if I read your other post correctly in having split backups, likely with differing names.

Just to recap what Windows version are you using now, is it Windows 10?

Yes perfectly normal.

If by merge you want to copy the contents of the C: Users and the contents of the account names content like Lura and Lura H then yes you can do that and any duplicate files will be highlighted for skip or overwrite to your LuraAnne account (do copy the folders as they are eg. Pictures, Music etc), then delete the old accounts from Control Panel > Accounts > Family and other users.

But make a complete backup of your harddrive in one complete image backup file as never know what goes wrong with moving/deleting and copying into account files.

Thanks for your advice! No, I was actually getting this computer in shape to switch over to Win10 and have been struggling ever since. Currently have Win 7 Home Premium on it. Will attempt to follow your directions! Thanks for your help...
