is it safe for my laptop if I delete IE from my compuer?

I seem to be having trouble with IE (8) on my laptop, I have posted the problem here, but no one responded to help me with my problem. I just downloaded Mozilla firefox onto the computer. Would it be okay if I just deleted IE? I can't seem to fix the problem with IE and I don't understand what is going on with it. If I delete IE, it wont cause my computer to screw all up would it?

No, it shouldn't cause a problem. In deleting IE8, you will be rolling back to IE7. IE is a core component of Windows and can't be "deleted" as such.

 

Internet Explorer cannot be completely removed from Windows. It is an integral part. Without at least 1 version on your machine,Windows will NOT work.

 

I'm not sure I agree completely with the earlier responses, 'some' parts of windows will not work, sure - the CHM Help system will be u/s for sure. My belief is that MS would like us all to think that it's an integral part of the O/S.

Jen, install and use Firefox exclusively is my view. Leave IE alone

IE can NOT be deleted entirely from Windows.
If you want to use Firefox, Opera, or any other browser, That is your decision. But keep IE6 at the very least on your machine. Cannot get Windows updates without it.
Trying to remove IE entirely will result in a system re-install,which will just put IE right back.

 

Thank you very much. I wish I could use the IE with no problems, but like I said before, I'm having problems, and no one helped me on here with that, so I couldn't fix it. I will just use the firefox, and leave IE alone.
