is it safe to unplug a ethernet card/ running

    is it safe to unplug a ethernet card well the pc is running? just to plug the broadband into an other pc?

    Yes and NO

    You can unplug / replug the ethernet cable from the card or router live

    You can unplug / replug a pcmcia ethernet card (in a laptop) live

    You can insert/remove a usb to ethernet adapter live

    You cannot insert/remove a pci /isa/ card whilst or 'hot or live'

    Most pcs these days have the ethernet physically incorporated in the motherboard so you physically can't remove them.
