Is Malwarebytes Sufficient Protection?

Greetings

In years past I had 2 different virus software loaded on my computer, and was informed they would conflict with each other. More recently I have been depending on Malwarebytes (anti malware home premium version), based on earlier cleanings recommended from this site. However, I do not remember where I was informed that Malwarebytes only protects from malware not viruses. Well before I go searching for virus protection I wanted to check in with the members here to get a more informed opinion. I also have Super-anti spyware on my windows 10 machine. Thank you for your time.

 

Yes two real-time protection AV programs WILL conflict.

'Malware' is a pseudonym for 'Malicious Software' and that includes every kind of malware including Viruses, Rootkits, Spyware etc.

The latest PREMIUM (ie you pay for it) version of Malwarebytes (3.1.2.1733) has been considered a full AV program. There are differing views about that.
Personally, I prefer a FREE version AV program - I use Comodo Internet Security, others like Avira, BitDefender, Avast etc - and I use the FREE version of Malwarebytes as a back up scanner.

I have the premium version and MSE without conflict.

 

AVG Ultimate and MalwareBytes Premium.

Zero conflict.

 

I can use 8 virus scanners and 5 malware scanners and no issue.

And i ran Windows defender last night for a scan all of these have zero conflicting issues.

 

I don't have as much confidence in Malwarebytes as I used to have because I continually get messages that my online protection is turned off. Sometimes I have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall to get it back on track. It has been trying to turn itself on for over 30 minutes so I am not protected. I have Windows 10 and so far have only used MWB and the Microsoft AV with no problems. I have used the paid version of MWB for years and it has been fine but it seems that since they incorporated Adware Cleaner into the program there have been glitches. And it is still trying to turn on..........

 

The scanner it self works just fine as is.I don't like the web protection real time option.Be cause it block sites that have no issues and it's buggy as is.

I have never in my life trusted the real time protections in any software be cause they can do more harm than good.

 

You can use version 2.2.1.1043 instead.
Use the uninstall tool, reboot and install ver. 2.

MWB eventually turned the online protection back on. Took a day to do it!. If the old version is not being updated I will stick to the new version, hopefully their updates will be sorted out.
