I ran a fitness test on a hard drive I could not reinstall windows on and got back a DISPOSITION CODE = 0X72.

Does this mean my HD drive is toast, or is there some way I can get it working again. I have googled the code and it does not look promising.

    All help appreciated

not sure, I used ultimate boot cd ver 3.2 too do the fitness test.

I only ask as I have set bios to boot from CD drive from a original windows disk and it gets too checking hardware profile and then stops.

What brand of HDD are you using? Which program did you use to test the HDD with? I've used most of the diagnostic software available, and though the old IBM / Hitachi Drive Fitness Test program is very well written, you should use the specific program designed by the HDD manufacturer, which you can download from the 'net.

I've had drives fail testing with DFT, but I've been able to repair them using the proper utilities from the HDD manufacturer, so I suggest you ID the drive, then download the HDD test / repair utilities from the appropriate drive maker's website...

Good luck; keep us posted on your progress...
