Hey, i just want to know if my harddrive is dieing on me. Not to long ago, i noticed a sound coming from the harddrive itself (it sounds similar to the sound of when you turn your computer off manually and the power supply stops, so basically is sounds like it stops spinning or whatever) and my computer freezes for about 5 seconds and then goes back to normal. Also, sometimes when i'm downloading, the download would start and would stop at a random percentage and not continue. I also got some "Cyclic redundency" errors. Are these symptoms of dieing harddrive? Thanks.

If you think your HDD dieing
    Two things to do:
1st Back up any important data!
2nd You can download a free HDD diagnostic utility from the manufacture of your HDD, do this, then run it!

If your HDD fails the diagnostics it will give you a Failure code you might need this code for RMA if your HDD is covered by warranty

You can also check your HDD cables, some get loose, some go bad?

If your pc is one which came with the reinstallation and drivers on the hard drive not on CD the NOW is the time to copy these to CD/DVD as well as your data.
