Is my machine wireless ready?

    My Dell desktop running XP-Pro has been connected via Ethernet for a while. I'd like to go wireless - but I'm dumm esp. where 'puters go and I can't make out if my machine is up to it (it's an inherited computer and I have no manual). In Device Manager under Network Adapters I have:
    - 1394 Net Adapter
    - Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller.

    Hi Teresita,

    In short no! :cool

    the 1394 is a Firewire connection, great for transferring large files, media etc.

    and the Broadcom is your Ethernet connection.

    A wireless adapter is very cheap these days, you can get one for USB or a card

    which you would need to put inside your desktop

    A USB adapter like this can easily be plugged in to a USB port at the back of the PC as thelaptopguru said. Really very easy and inexpensive.
