Is My Router Failing?

I'm experiencing a weird error where on startup,my network connection icon displays a icon that it's searching for a connection and lately the Network connection icon has been coming up X'ed out. I can usually fix it via a system reset,but I'm running my connection through a router,so that a computer in a different room can get a connection. so how do I find out what's causing the problem,as I don't want to start replacing hardware,without knowing that the hardware is question is behind the problem. Also this is getting worse,as recently I have to restart up to 3 times to get a reliable connection.

 

According to your Speecy report, you are using Ethernet. Swap cables and see what happens. Ethernet cables are critical but not very robust network devices. They are easily damaged. I would try a different Ethernet port on your router too.

 

I've just replaced the cable/s which had no effect. It seems to be a very strange error as one day it works fine,the next one I need to do multiple restarts to get a reliable connection.

 

And the other computers on your network are having no problems? If they are not experiencing any problems, your router and gateway (modem) are fine.

When you lose connection, any errors in Device Manager?
