    Hello,

My friend's computer frequently experiences very slow performance. After checking for malware (and there was none), we were directed here by TimW.

The computer has a Pentium 4 CPU 2.8 Ghz, and 512 MB of RAM. If you need any other information, please let me know (I'm not exactly sure what I should be posting to this forum).

    Thanks for your time.

It's well-known that Norton Anti-Virus eats up your resources. In tests, it has been shown that AVG Anti-Virus causes the least system slowdown compared to other major anti-virus software.
So if you really want the best out of your PC, buy AVG Anti-Virus or download the free version at http://free.grisoft.com

just a FYI if he wants a Norton product, Norton 360 is great, no slowdowns at all, (just make sure you don't sign up for their automatic renewal program)
