Is OCZ Ultra 5+ thermal goop good?

    I picked up a tube of this stuff, and was wondering...do you try to remove any old film of existing stuff from the cpu/heatsink? Or just apply the req'd amount of this stuff on and drop the sink on her?

    yes you want to clean to get best cooling results
    try denatured alcohol
    you may want to lap heatsink with crocus cloth to get a smooth polished surface
    Be sure not to go overboard with new paste
    general rule is apply a spot the size of a grain of rice and use an old credit card or a playing card might work to spreadout to an even coat
