Is restoration without ASR floppy possible?

The drive in my laptop crashed. Put it into an external drive case to see if it could be read, nothing.

I did create a backup using sys tools & used the ASR feature. However the floppy that the ASR files were written on is bad & cannot find the back up for it.
The back up file itself is still safe & sound on my network drive.

I would just go ahead & reinstall XP Pro but I misplaced the key (yes it was a legitimate copy). The laptop came with vista & I do have the recovery disks but would prefer to stick with xp if at all possible. I have all of my files, pics, word docs. on another drive. So I would not be really loosing anything except having to use vista.

Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance........
